Our ex-EVS Angela, now on vacation in Australia, writes:
"The trip was ... well ... what to say? long, but really a massacre, especially when I was sitting next to an old couple who fought and Singaporean fidgeting in the seats all the time:)
L 'Australia is a wonderful country. My first impression in general: Sunshine and happy people, polite and smiling everywhere. I say a word, a cheerful greeting whatever you do (simply shopping, ordering in a bar or even just down the street).
I still struggle with English, when I want to say something, I always come the words in Italian:), I'm going to buy myself a nice English book, so maybe I grow a little bit.
Brisbane is a very big city but not very old, almost exclusively in the city there are new buildings and tall skyscrapers and large buildings and only a couple of old buildings and churches from colonial times. In short, has no air of history (such as' every corner of Italy) and I miss it already. Even the Australians say about themselves - a bit 'ironically - in Australia "no culture, But a lot of nature," which is true. There are countless opportunities to spend time in nature and enjoy the flora and fauna, and now I'm trying to make the most of my days here:
a walk in the park near the national pious (rainforest, waterfalls, eucalypt forest), a weekend see the ocean e. .. the ocean is the ocean, but to be honest I do not like too much water is cold and the waves are so big they scare me. The best thing for me is the jungle where we even climbed up a volcano: it was great!
Fortunately, I also gained a bit 'of money, so I do not feel guilty to buy myself some clothes:) and go on trips every weekend:).
I gotta go,
a big hug to all, Angela
